Kara
Prete and I share a smile as we chat before
our private interviews with the judges.
Erica Durso, America's Teen Yankee
Miss, wishes us
all good luck before interviews.
Here I am with fellow
2000 Liberty Misses, Melanie and
Mary Mudry, Miss New England 2001, before the final announcement.
The crowning moment happened Sunday, April 8, 2001 outside Hartford, Connecticut
at the Sheraton Bradley Airport.
I am so honored to be the first Ms. Royal America.
The director, Christina Couto, dressed her son
Matthew in
a tux for the occasion.
Here I am after the pageant hamming it up with the
Miss Royal America logo sign.
Posing with sister queen, Erica as she congratulates
me after the pageant.

Here is the group photo of the new Miss Royal America's!
Not long after our pageant, Meagan Corlin of New Hampshire, (beside me in
the blue gown) went on to win the National title of Miss National Teen-Ager.
We are so proud of her win from New England!
Miss and Ms. take a quick break.
Back at home, I soon find out the REAL Queen is one of my cute kitties!
I had the opportunity to meet 70's Superstar, Leif Garrett.
He was in Connecticut featured in the production of "A Child's Christmas
In Wales."
In June, I was fortunate enough to be included in the
Rennsport Porsche Race at Lime Rock Raceway
in Connecticut. Since I matched the car, does that mean I can take it home?
I also had the pleasure of meeting the famous Porsche racer and coordinator of
this event, Brian
Redmond.
I was honored to sing the National Anthem before the race and also to be able
to begin the race by saying, "Gentlemen, start your engines!"
I got to walk around and meet many people. Paul
Newman
was even racing that day but wasn't available
for photos.
I took many pictures including this one with the famous Rothman's Race Car.
I also spent time at the racing area for one of my sponsors,
Durable Racing.
Another row of famous Porsche racecars.
I also was able to meet another famous Porsche racer, Prescott Kelly, and pose
with his car. I was definitely happy to be a part of the weekend's events.
In August, Christina held her Pre-teen pageants
at the Sheraton Bradley Airport. I was excited to be there and also to once again see Connecticut's own
National Pre-Teen Petite, Jonet Bolden.
Miss Teen U.S. of America, Kara Prete and I congratulate
outgoing Miss Connecticut Teen, Cory Kopitar, on a terrific year.
Contestants are featured in the opening number of the pageant.
Here are the new winners for Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Seeing some old friends and meeting new ones. Kara,
Alanna Thompson, Ms. American United States, Miss Arkansas Pre-Teen, myself and Melanie
are all smiles.
I also had the chance to go backstage at a country music festival and see
Trisha Yearwood.
In October, it was time again for the America's Yankee
Miss Pageant. Here are Christina and Matthew
at the podium.
We surprised her by singing Happy Birthday to her!
After her win, I congratulate our newest Couto Family member,
America's Yankee Ms., Amy Lepore.
We were happy to pose with the new queens and judges after the pageant.
December 16th, I visited the Veterans at Rocky Hill VA Hospital.
After visiting patients in the wards, I sang for the Veterans.
Afterwards, the fun didn't end, we kept singing Christmas carols and taking photos.
I was happy to get a hug from
my favorite three. Big Daddy Richard,
a Veteran of the
Korean War and a Former CT AMVET State Commander.
Willie, my favorite friend and resident Veteran
of Rocky Hill.
Richie Duff, son of Pat and Al Duff, Former CT AMVET State
Commander.
A great time was had by all and I was proud to bring some Christmas cheer to the Veterans!
